The Coterie presents the 2013 Young Playwrights Festival

The Coterie invites you to the 2013 Young Playwrights Festival, featuring world premiere readings by some of Kansas City's most talented teen playwrights. Professional actors, directors and designers present a collection of staged readings, plays, and monologues from teen members of The Coterie's Young Playwrights' Roundtable. The highly creative Roundtable brings together a group of select young adults that meet throughout the year to write and share plays. Members of the Roundtable are invited to join after attending a Reaching the Write Minds workshop, The Coterie's citywide in-school program to identify emerging playwrights. All readings are recommended as PG and are appropriate for preteens through adults.

This year's festival will incorporate six readings into one act, with featured works written by Audrey Gleason (Shawnee Mission Northwest High), Jessica Oeser (Lansing High), Tessia Phillips (The Barstow School), Danielle Fay (Washington High), Sam Danley (Platte County High), and Seadon A. Smart (Olathe North High). Tosin Morohunfola, Amanda Kibler, and Brian Gehrlein will direct.

The festival will feature actors Bob Linebarger, Shawna Downing, Marshall Hopkins, Cathy Wood, Natalie Dickter, Lucas Dorrel, Evan Phillips, Anna Smith, Maggie Parker, Rachel Brennan Leyh, Hughston Walkinshaw, Keaton Schmidt, Miles Wirth, Eric Palmquist, Daria LeGrand, and Sarah McGuire.

The Young Playwrights Festival performances will be held April 24 and 25 at 7:00 p.m. at The Coterie, located on level 1 of the Crown Center shops. Admission is $5.00 and reservations are encouraged. You can make reservations by phone 816-474-6552, on our website at www.thecoterie.org, or in person at The Coterie Box Office.
