It has been proven in many studies that students who have a strong training in the arts do better on standardized test than students who have no arts education. The arts make not only the students better, but the community as well.

All art forms have a place at Paseo Academy. It's a place to improve your talents, show off your talents and cultivate your talents that you might not have known you had. The school, which becomes like a family, integrates the arts throughout college preparatory classes many other activities that prepare you for life after high school.

Theater is the only art form that encom¬passes all of the art forms such as creative writing, music, dance, and visual arts. The¬ater students can obtain analytical and oral language skills as well as self confidence and discipline for careers in the ever growing entertainment industry. The skills learned in theater will also be helpful in other careers outside of the entertainment industry such as, public speaking, law, and politics.

Dance is a visual art form that allows the body to act as an instrument for expression. Dance Majors have the chance to participate in the All Arts holiday performance "Holiday on the Hill", and take a trip to The Big Apple experience. To rap up the year, the entire Dance Department will present the All Arts Dance & Theater senior showcase.

VISUAL ARTS Through drawing, graphic de¬sign, ceramics, painting and printmaking, the visual art major develops a thorough under¬standing and range of skills using two-dimen¬sional media. Students are led to employ a wide range of vocabulary in visual art and polish skills, which readies them for a post secondary program of study in visual art.

Television Production/Broadcast¬ing is a Career and Technical Education program that operates out of Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts. The goal of the program is two-fold: first to introduce all stu¬dents in the Kansas City Public schools to the television and broadcast journalism industry, teach them how it works and present the ca¬reer opportunities. Second, the program will prepare students to be college, career and work ready in the television and broadcasting journalism industry.

Technical theater at Paseo focuses on resume and portfolio building through hands on real life learning. Students will learn the basics in technical theater production and de¬sign in the classroom and by acting as interns for Paseo Academy and assist in the techni¬cal productions for all school events such as music, dance, and poetry performances.

The Choral Music Conservatory students study Voice Pedagogy of Perfor¬mance, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Theory 1 and 2, Piano 1 and 2 and Individualized Lessons. We also offer a Middle School component for 7th and 8th graders. Our Choral Music Conservatory provides many performance opportunities for students to formally and creatively express themselves. Upon completion of their choral studies stu¬dents are worthy for music scholarship, for the post secondary studies or ready for entry into the professional arena.

Creative Writing students study poetry, fic¬tion, nonfiction and playwriting. In addition to studying published works, students write critical responses to literature. Writing of exceptional merit is published in the Poets Voice, Paseo's literary magazine. You might find students reading at The Writers Place and the Blue Room.

Instrumental Music/Band students will have the desire to perform music other have composed. They either have developed skills and already play a musical instrument or have a desire to learn. They will have the discipline to be able to follow a teacher's directions and the self-discipline to practice.

Instrumental Music/Orchestra students will have the desire to perform music other have composed. They either have the skills and already play a stringed instrument or have the desire to learn. They will have the discipline to be able to follow a teacher's directions and the self-discipline to practice.

It has been proven in many studies that students who have a strong training in the arts do better on standardized test and are more likely to succeed in post secondary education than students who have no arts education. The arts make not only the students better but the community as well. Paseo Academy of the Fine and Performing Arts can make it better.
