The Drowsy Chaperone is coming

The River City Community Players announces the opening weekend for The Drowsy Chaperone with music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison; and book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar will open July 26 at the Leavenworth Performing Arts Center, 500 Deleware St., Leavenworth, KS.

A rare combination of originality and blinding talent, boldly addresses a great unspoken desire in our hearts: to be entertained. Have you ever sat in a dark theater and thought, "Dear Lord, please let it be good," this is the show for you! It begins when a die-hard musical-theater fan plays his favorite cast album on his turntable and the musical literally bursts to life in his living room, telling the rambunctious tale of a brazen Broadway starlet trying to find and keep her true love.

Directed by Tisha M. Entwistle.

The cast, featuring Kevin Albee, Tracy McClung, Bill Wood, Richard Bayse, Janelle Bartoszek, Sara DeMetz, David Varner, Rachel Szmed, Linda Finch, Andy Entwhistle, Nichol Dechant, Branson Bliss, Lee Finch, Jerry Martin, Gwen Akins, Kaitlyn Baker, Carissa Bruner, Aaron Greg, Isabelle Krasnesky, Kylie Visocsky, and Katy Williams, have been working since early June to bring this wonderful show to life.

In addition to its opening on July 26 at 8 p.m., there are additional performances on July 27, August 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 8 p.m., and an August 4 2 p.m., matinee.

A reception, on the mezzanine floor, will immediately follow the July 26 performance.

Tickets are: Adults $10; 12 & under $5; 62+ & groups 10+ $8. Leavenworth Performing Arts Center, 500 Delaware St, (913) 651-0027, www.rccplv.com (Adult Fare)
