HELLO, DOLLY! PRESS RELEASE

MUSICAL THEATER HERITAGE PRESENTS
"HELLO, DOLLY" Starring Deb Bluford & Gary Neal
Johnson
Off Center Theatre at Crown Center
August 8-25

Musical Theater Heritage will continue its 11th
season with the Jerry Herman chestnut, HELLO,
DOLLY! Winner of 10 Tony Awards in 1964, including
"Best Musical". Jerry Herman's fast-paced, feel-
good musical centers around the country's most
lovable Matchmaker, Dolly Levi. Dolly is back in
New York not only to arrange, meddle and match-up
lonely hearts, but heal her own heart, as well.
She's set her sights on Yonker's richest (and
grumpiest) citizen, Horace Vandergelder. This
timeless classic includes the hit tunes "Before
the Parade Passes By", "Put on Your Sunday
Clothes", "So Long Dearie", "Hello, Dolly!", and
many more.

The original production of HELLO, DOLLY! starring
Carol Channing played for 2,844 performances on
Broadway at the St. James Theatre, which at the
time, was the longest running Broadway musical in
history. In 1969, the movie version of the show
starring Barbara Streisand was nominated for 7
Academy Awards and won 3 including "Best Score".

MTH's production will feature 2 Kansas City
Theatrical veterans, Deb Bluford and Gary Neal
Johnson. Ms. Bluford was last seen at MTH playing
Mama Rose in GYPSY. Prior to that, she played
Benjamin Franklin in MTH's nationally acclaimed,
all female version of 1776. Mr. Johnson will be
making his MTH debut in HELLO, DOLLY! and has
turned in memorable performances on every stage in
Kansas City for decades.

MTH's Executive Director, George Harter offers,
"When you think of HELLO, DOLLY! people naturally
think: Carol Channing. But, our concert format
will breathe new life into the piece with Deb
Bluford and Gary Neal on board. We have no doubt
that our production will be the one that audiences
will definitely not want to miss."

Walter Kerr, in the New York Tribune, wrote
"HELLO, DOLLY! is a musical comedy dream."

MTH will offer their production of HELLO, DOLLY!
August 8-25, 2013 at the Off Center Theatre in
Crown Center.

Tickets are $10-$35 and available by calling the
