Local Actors and Singers Raise Funds and Awareness for Childhood Cancer

In their continuing effort to raise funds and awareness for cancer but more recently childhood cancer, and more recently the battle against childhood cancer, members of the Girls Night Out-4-Breast Cancer fund-raising club will host a one-time performance of The Lemon Drop Players on Saturday, October 6, 2012. This unique event will begin at 2:00PM at the Just Off Broadway Theatre, 3051 Central, Kansas City, MO.

The Girls Night Out-4-Breast Cancer fund-raising club is an organization who originally focused on supporting women with breast cancer one bra strap at time. Since its inception in 2010, the club has raised over $9,000 for charity through annual girls night out events. This is their first fund-raiser to help find a cure for kids' cancer.

This theatrical experience will feature the following: "LOVE LETTERS" written by A. R. Gurney and performed by Kurt Moegle and Vickie Smithson, a monologue performed by Patti Shockley entitled, "French Fries" from "Talking With…" and written by Jane Martin; and vocal performances by Betsy Dierker and Jeff Drysdale. Additional highlights include a silent art auction, delectable desserts and beverages at a reasonable price. This event is not recommended for children under the age of 13. The reservation price is $15 and available through Pay Pal at the following website: https://sites.google.com/site/girlsniteout4bc or send a check payable to "GNO-4-BC" to Cindy Devine,1 Memorial Drive, KCMO 64198.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra "Alex" Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $55 million toward fulfilling Alex's dream of finding a cure, funding over 250 research projects nationally.
