A Larval Mask Workshop ~ By Heidi Van

Byrd Productions & The Fishtank presents:
A Larval Mask Workshop By Heidi Van
Sunday, April 19, 1-4 pm
at The Just Off Broadway Theater

$30

...
In the world of larval masks everything is at the edge of beginning. Building on neutrality of presence the actor begins to navigate space and physicality in exercises and improvisations that:- simplify and amplify gestures,- explore the mask as a moving structure in the space, with forms, trajectories, dynamic oppositions and to find the body who can reveal it,- explore the animalistic and fantastic dimension of the mask.

Heidi Van, Actor/Creator Co-Founder/Curator of Fishtank Performance Studio,
Producing Artistic Director of HYBRID: a theatre collective,
dubbed The Queen of Dead Art Forms by Alan Schuerstel
is best known for performing and creating pieces in the red nose clown style.  Van is a 2010 recipient of the MASTERMIND AWARD, a Charlotte Street Outstanding Generative Performing Artist Finalist and an KC Arts Fund Inspiration Grant recipient.  Van’s most widely produced original clown play is The Coppelia Project: a clown ballet in three acts  that debuted at the 2008 Kansas City Fringe Festival.
