For Immediate Release
12pm February 16, 2015

PerformOUTKC, Kansas City's LGBTQIA Choral and
Theatre Arts program announces its 6th season
with new changes and exciting initiatives for
this year.

Kansas City, MO – PerformOUTKC welcomes
Cassandra Hermes as Education Associate. Cassie
joined POKC early this month to support the
theatre arts efforts as she will assist the
artistic team with theater programming and
planning. Cassie grew up and currently resides
in Topeka, Kansas. In addition to directing
theatre she also enjoys the tasks of stage
management, set design and choreography
instruction. Cassie received her Associates of
Fine Arts in theatre and dance from Cottey
College in Nevada, MO. and later obtained a
Bachelors of Arts in theatre from Centenary
College of Louisiana.

In college, Cassie was active in all theatre
and dance productions and has been teaching
theatre for four years now. Her love for
theatre stems from a passion of sharing stories
with others and creating a positive environment
for those around her. She is most passionate
about theatre with a unique focus on feminist
and LGBTQ social issues and the influence that
theatre and the performing arts can have on a
community. Nothing makes her more excited than
getting to do theatre with a purpose. Since
teaching theatre summer camps at Topeka Civic
Theatre, her passion for teaching theatre to
children and youth has cultivated.

This season we're continuing to feature
educational and empowering productions, which
to include storytelling, original writing by
the young artists, traditional choral standards
and some new and exciting musical arrangements.
PerformOUTKC now offers a youth chorus and a
youth theatre troupe to support the artistic
talents of our young artists.

Based in Kansas City, POKC is a 6-year old
community music and theatre arts program
created for lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgendered, queer, intersex and allied
youth, ages 14-22. Our mission is to provide a
safe and inclusive atmosphere for youth of any
and all identities, fostering positive identity
development through excellence in music
performance and creative expression.

PerformOUTKC opened its 2014-2015 season in
January with Affirmation. A "thoroughly
absorbing" performance of storytelling, our
audience experienced the many facets that
connect the struggles, obstacles and positive
enrichment of young people that essentially
defines who they are as people. This summer we
will premiere "That Wasn't Me" a tough and
tender theatrical play about life reflections
and the many journeys youth have explored to
discover their own individual authenticity as
brave, hopeful and courageous people. And back
by popular demand…Loud & Proud 2015, a summer
sing-along DIVA's style.

with a passion or new found love for acting,
dancing, singing, and writing? If so, visit
