City in Motion Dance Theater presents "A Modern Night at the Folly"
12th annual choreographers' showcase

Please join City in Motion Dance Theater for "A Modern Night at the Folly" at 8 p.m. Feb. 28th, 2015.

This performance features 10 of the region's most talented choreographers. This one-of-a-kind event is Kansas City's only adjudicated showcase. This year's performance will feature the choreography of Vance R. Baldwin (St. Louis), Muriel Cohan (Lawrence), Dale Fellin (City in Motion co-artistic director), Mary Pat Henry (Kansas City), Elaine Kimble-Peaks (Kansas City), Willie Lenoir (Lawrence), Lindsay Pierce (Chattanooga, TN), M. Suzanne Ryan Strati (Kansas City), Kameron N. Saunders (St. Louis) and Patrick Suzeau (Lawrence).

Performances will include themes of ancestral memory, struggle, survival, acceptance and forgiveness .

Tickets for "A Modern Night at the Folly" can be reserved at by calling the Folly box office at 816.474.4444 or online at Follytheater.org. Tickets are $20 in advance, $15 for students and seniors and $25 at the door.

For more than 25 years, City in Motion has provided opportunities for local choreographers to present their work through the Choreographers' Showcase, the New Dance Series and Dance in the Park. "A Modern Night at the Folly" is a continuation of that tradition. Since 1985, City in Motion Dance Theatre has worked to promote modern dance in Kansas City. Its mission is to foster the development of high-quality contemporary dance programming and expand the dance audience in the Kansas City metropolitan region.

This 501c(3) nonprofit organization has utilized a three-pronged approach—a professional dance company; a dance school offering affordable classes for children, youth and adults; and contemporary dance programming and presentations—to achieve awareness and appreciation for modern dance. The organization is perhaps best known for its high-quality annual dance concerts at the Gem Theater, Folly Theater, Roanoke Park, H & R Block City Stage Theater at Union Station and other locations throughout the metropolitan area.
