City in Motion Dance Theater, Inc. announces its Children's Dance Theater/Apprentice Company performance, to be presented on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the St. Teresa's Academy Auditorium, Music & Arts Building, 5600 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64113.

The concert will feature two premieres by Ann Shaughnessy. The first piece, for the eleven members of the Apprentice Company, is entitled See, Sync, Sort. The music, by Radiohead, is performed by Section. The dance is a short but thorough exploration of musicality, timing and pattern, ending in a very orderly way! The second piece, for the eight members of the Children's Dance Theater, is called Round and Straight. The music is by Augustus Pablo, King Tubby, and Stanley Black. Like polka dots and stripes, like cone-shaped party hats, this playful dance demonstrates the moods of things round and straight.

Tracie Davis will present Go to Bed! with music by Patients and She & Him for the Children's Dance Theater. Go to Bed! Is a dance suite about the trials of older sisters putting little sisters to bed and how sometimes only a big sister can comfort a little one back to sleep.

Andrea Skowronek will present 6 + 6 = 11 with music by Radiohead for the Apprentice Company. This piece was originally performed by the City in Motion Dance Theater professional company in 2004.

City in Motion School of Dance faculty members Lillian Francis (Jazz III), Stephanie Whittler (Ballet II), and Amanda January (Ballet IV), will have choreography presented in the concert. Selected student choreography by Leah Brownlee, Marina Vianello, Greer Madole and Lilly McGonigle will also be featured.

Tickets for the concert are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors and are available at the door. St. Teresa's Academy is located at 5600 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64113. The auditorium is located in the Music & Arts Building on the west side of the campus. Please enter in the main doors facing the quadrangle. There is ample parking in the lots on campus.
