During a howling snowstorm a bus from Kansas City stops at the roadside diner. Roads are blocked and the travelers are going to have to hole up until morning.
Cherie is a passenger on the bus with most to worry about. She's being pursued by a cowboy with a ranch in Montana and the romantic methods of a bull.
The cafe owner and bus driver find time to develop a friendship of their own; a middle-age scholar comes to terms with himself; and a young girl in the cafe also gets her first taste of romance.
