Bobby Watson at the Hollywood Theater

Don't miss your chance to catch Bobby Watson, two time Grammy winner and Kansas Music Hall of Fame member, at the historic Hollywood Theater.
Bobby Watson, will be performing a one night only concert at the Hollywood Theater on Saturday, November 17th.

There is a reception with the artist beginning at 6:15 p.m., at J.W. Crancers, 530 Delaware Street just down from the theater.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 apiece with all proceeds going to the Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department special fund to support youth scholarships for those with financial needs.

Watson (born Lawrence, Kansas, August 23, 1953) is an American post-bop jazz alto saxophonist, composer, producer and educator. He grew up in Bonner Springs and Kansas City, Kansas. He now has 26 recordings as a leader. He appears on nearly 100 other recordings as either co-leader or in a supporting role. Watson has recorded more than 100 original compositions and his long-time publisher.

In 2000, he was approached to return to his native midwestern surroundings and was selected as the first William D. and Mary Grant/Missouri, Distinguished Professorship in Jazz Studies. He has served as the director of jazz studies at the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory of Music although he still manages to balance live engagements around the world with his teaching responsibilities. Watson's ensembles at UMKC have garnered several awards and national recognition.
