Original sketch comedy coming to Westport in Fountain City's Third Run!

Fountain City Sketch Comedy is coming to the stage of the Kick Comedy Theater for a limited four-performance run of the group's third all-new, all-original hour of sketch comedy. The troupe of comedians is composed of director Bryan Moses, and ten writers, seven of whom also make up the cast.

Fountain City premiered its first run in April of 2014 and its second in August 2014, to very positive responses. Their energetic comedy stylings run the gambit from smart, to "blue," to absurd, taking influence from such sketch as Saturday Night Live, Key & Peele, Monty Python, Amy Schumer, Mr. Show, and lesser-knowns such as Superego. The show will have a preview on Saturday, April 4 at 10:00 pm, and then run at 8:00 pm Fridays the rest of April: April 10, 17, and 24 at 8:00 pm at the Kick Comedy Theater. The Kick is located at 4010 Pennsylvania, between the Westport Coffee House and Green Room Burgers and Beer. The sketch group is an offshoot of The KC Improv Company, which was named best Improv/Sketch group in KC by The Pitch magazine for the past two years, and which produces comedy shows every weekend night at The Kick.

These shows contain some strong language and sexual themes, must be 17 to enter, 21 to drink. A selection of beer, wine, and liquor will be available for purchase right in the theater, and burgers, fries, and other menu items can be purchased at the Green Room and brought in.

The writers and actors of Fountain City Sketch have extensive involvement in KC Theater and improv comedy, including the KC Repertory Theatre, the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, the Living Room Theatre, and regular performances at the Kick with the KC Improv Company. Several members have performed in comedy festivals all over the country, including Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York. Some have played comedic roles in both local and national commercials.

Tickets for Fountain City Sketch as well as most of the improv comedy shows at The Kick are $10.
