Set in 1900 Sweden and inspired by Ingmar Bergman's film "Smiles of a Summer Night," A Little Night Music explores the tangled web of affairs centered around actress Desirée Armfeldt and the men who love her. The "Send in the Clowns" musical, written in waltz time, won 1973 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical. A Little Night Music opened at Broadway's Shubert Theatre on February 25, 1973. Directed by Michael Grayman, Angie Benson & Andy Parkhurst. Featuring Melinda MacDonald, Charles Fugate, Lauren Braton, Allison Banks, Daniel Beeman, Molly Denninghoff, Liz Golson, Cathy Wood, Vigthor Zophoniasson, Devon Barnes, Sarah Morrissey, Zachary Parker, and Bob Wearing.
