City in Motion presents free Dance in the Park concert Sept. 7

WHO: Dance is in the park is presented by City in Motion Dance Theater in conjunction with the Volker, Roanoke, Coleman Highlands, West Plaza and Valentine Neighborhood Associations.

WHAT: The 15th annual Dance in the Park is a free outdoor event that will feature local dance companies in the genres of Modern, Ballet, Street dancing, Sword dancing, Salsa, East Indian, Capoeira, Filipino, and a special performance painting by a local artist.

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013. Free Capoeira dance class for audience members on stage at 6:30 p.m., concert begins at 7 p.m. Rain date: Sunday, Sept. 8, same times.

WHERE: Roanoke Park, 3699 E. Roanoke Drive Kansas City MO 64111

DETAILS: Participating companies include City in Motion Dance Theater, City in Motion Children's Dance Theater & Apprentice Company, Owen/Cox Dance Group, Seamless Dance Theatre, Gurukul Dance Company, Grupo Axé Capoeira Kansas City, Latin Rhythms, Sinag-Tala Dance Troupe, Nikoria Dance Productions, and Mike Debus Performance Painting. There will also be a surprise guest or two, to be announced closer to the date of the show.

This family-friendly event is a collaboration of neighborhoods, businesses and performers.
