PerformOUTKC announces its’ new Artistic Team; Ryan C. Hays, Artistic Director & Conductor and Chad Patrick Smith, Associate Artistic Director of Theater Arts!

Kansas City, Missouri, June 24th 2013 – PerformOUTKC is thrilled to announce the new artistic duo with Ryan C. Hays & Chad Patrick Smith.

Ryan Hays, a native of Curry, Alabama. Mr. Hays received his Bachelors in Music in Instrumental Education with an emphasis in piano performance from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Ryan has had the privilege to work with high school & college students as well as working with individual performing arts groups throughout his career. Over the past ten years, it has been his honor to work with the Miracles choir, a group of 24 men & women with intellectual disabilities at a prestigious community center in Mississippi; traveling over 15000 miles and performing over 80 concerts annually as their choral director and accompanist. In addition to his artistic direction Mr. Hays managed the performing & creative arts program at the center, developed strategic publicity initiatives and produced two recordings with the Miracles.

Ryan is excited about transitioning to Kansas City to continue his love of coaching and mentoring youth as the artistic director of PerformOUTKC. Ryan is looking forward to contributing his time and talents to POKC at the start of their 5th season. Mr. Hays will be pursuing his Masters of Fine Arts in Musical Theater which is uniquely aligned with the mission of POKC and will contribute to the success of the organization as a choral theater program for many generations to come. "I am so honored to be a part of such a wonderful TEAM and I'm looking forward to working with and getting to know all the youth, volunteers, staff and board leaders involved.

Chad Smith is originally from Olathe, KS. He received his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre from Emporia State University. After graduating from ESU, Chad received a Hilberry Repertory Theatre Fellowship to attend the MFA program at Wayne State University, where he trained with members of the Shaw Festival and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Following the completion of his Masters of Fine Arts, Chad went on to work at Kentucky Repertory Theatre, where he was a member of the resident Equity acting company. After two seasons he became Kentucky Rep's Education Director. Chad has taught acting and an improvisation workshop all over the country, is a member of the Actors' Equity Association, and was on the nominating committee for Actors' Equity Association Central Region Advisory Board. On the collegiate level, Chad served on the theatre faculty at Texas Christian University as adjunct professor.

As an actor, Chad has performed at Dallas Children's Theater, Circle Theatre, Second Thought Theatre, Kitchen Dog, Stage West, Classical Acting Company, Shakespeare Dallas, Sierra Repertory Theatre, iO Chicago and The Second City, among others. Mr. Smith has been in numerous regional and national commercials including Comerica Bank and Dave & Buster's. His passion for teaching and mentoring young actors is what brought him back to the Kansas City area after nearly twenty years. Chad is very excited and looks forward to coaching and mentoring theater arts with the young artists of PerformOUTKC.

Both Ryan and Chad are very excited to kick off the 5th season of POKC with the new choral theater program. This programming concept will consist of original works from the personal stories and journeys of the young artists of POKC converted into music and theater. This will showcase the authenticity of young peoples' developing sense of musical excellence and creative expression. We Explore, Discover, Celebrate, Share!
