LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS AT CORBIN

Barney Cashman wanted women in the worst way, and that's how he got them. Corbin Theatre's Last of the Red Hot Lovers brings a Neil Simon comedy favorite to the stage Feb. 16-18, 23-25 at 7:30 p.m. The Samuel French production, sponsored by Liberty's WynBrick Center, brings four new faces to the theatre on Liberty's Historic Square, 15 N. Water Street.

Middle-aged and married, overworked and overweight, Barney Chasman, played by Bill Pelletier, wants to join the sexual revolution before it's too late and arranges three seductions. The first, Elaine Navazio played by Wanda Morris, proved to be a foul-mouthed bundle of neuroses who likes cigarettes, whiskey, and other women's husbands. Bobbi Michele, played by Megan Biven, is a 20-ish actress who is too kooky for words. Finally comes Jeanette Fisher, played by Kimi Worstell-Laabs, who is a gloomy, depressed housewife who just happens to be married to Barney's best friend.

Kimi Worstell-Laabs makes her Corbin directorial debut with Suzanne Axon serving as stage manager. Deb Funkhouser is producing the play.

Tickets for the local production are just $10 per person and can be obtained online at the Corbin Theatre Company website,http://corbintheatre.org, at Crybaby Farms Gifts & Designs, 9 N. Water St., just two doors down from the theatre on the Liberty Square, or at the door the night of the performance. The original Broadway production of Last of the Red Hot Lovers, directed by Robert Moore, opened on December 28, 1969 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre in New York City, where it ran for 706 performances. The original cast included James Coco, Linda Lavin (as Elaine), Doris Roberts (as Jeannette), and Marcia Rodd (as Bobbi). The play, Coco, Lavin, and Moore all were nominated for Tony Awards.
