FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Independent Actors Theatre is pleased to announce the 4th Annual short Women's Play Festival. Now in its fourth year and in celebration of Women's History Month, Independent Actors Theatre's short Women's Play Festival (the plays are short, not the women!) will be performed March 9-11 and features new short works by women playwrights from around the country. The 2012 featured playwrights include Claudia Barnett from Murfeesboro, TN; Margaret Hoffman from New York, NY; Aoise Stratford from Ithaca, NY; and Daniella Vitinski from Boulder, CO. All works are also directed by local women directors, Amy Darnell, Elizabeth Braaten Palmieri, and Cece McFarland.
In addition to the plays themselves, this fourth annual festival will feature music before and after the show by local women musicians. Also, three of the featured playwrights will be in attendance for Friday and Saturday's performances, and audience members will be able to speak with the playwrights during a post-show Q & A session following Saturday's performance.
Tickets are $8 and are available in advance via the theatre's website (www.iatheatre.org) or at The Bridge (1020 E. Walnut, Columbia). Tickets can also be purchased at the door, cash only.
