"Rent" in Concert! by Jonathan Larson: Jan 27: 3 pm Sun
Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's RENT follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom, and Angel. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves, and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical. Directed by Dan Prather. Jan 20 & 27 3-5. Prepare 32 measures of a Musical Theatre or Rock selection in style of show. Bring sheet music in your key, accompanist provided. No A'cappella or singing with CDs. Open to everyone 35 and older. Rehearsals will likely be Sun & Fri, starting Feb 10, 2013. Location unknown. Performances are April 12, 13, 19 & 20, 2013 at Alcott Arts Center, 18th St, KC, KS. We plan to double cast, giving each cast 2 performances in their roles, but will be used in all ensemble number!
