EXPECTATION and PREPARATION:

Prepare: If you are unknown to the director, please prepare a 1- to 2-minute comedic monologue. It may be memorized OR performed with the monologue script in hand. Auditioners will have the chance to review audition sides in advance for the roles that interest them (or for which they are appropriate). Please be familiar with the script or, at least, the story.

Bring: Resume and headshot if available. Bring all known conflicts from April 22 through the June production dates (which I know is difficult to predict this early, but do the best you can).
Rehearsals begin from approximately April 22 and will run mostly on Sunday through Thursday evenings with occasional Friday or Saturday times if needed based on cast conflicts.

June 7 – 23, 2013
Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm
Sundays at 2:00pm

Olathe Community Theatre, 500 E. Loula, Olathe, KS 66061

SYNOPSIS:

Hazlehurst, Mississippi, 1981. The three Magrath sisters have gathered to await news about their grandfather, who is living out his final hours in the local hospital. Lenny, the oldest sister, is unmarried and celebrating a depressing birthday. Meg, the middle sister, is back home about to give up on a failed singing career on the West Coast. Babe, the baby sister, is out on bail after shooting her husband. Their troubles are highlighted by their priggish cousin, Chick, an awkward lawyer who tries to keep Babe out of jail, and an ex-boyfriend of Meg's. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Lenny Magrath female 35 – 50 lead
Meg Magrath female 35 – 45 lead
Babe Botrelle female 30 – 40 lead
Chick Boyle female 35 – 50 supporting
Doc Porter male 35 – 50 supporting
Barnette Lloyd male 30 – 40 supporting

NOTE: The concept of this production is that the three sisters are in their thirties or forties, as opposed to the scripted twenty-somethings. Casting, including the casting of supporting characters, will be dependent on whether the characters appear in believable age-proximity to each other.
