Subject: A Letter from the President & CEO
| Dear Angie, The headline reads, "Missouri Arts Council Abolished!" A fear that could soon become reality - as of June 2013, the balance of the Missouri Arts Council Cultural Trust Fund will be nearly depleted. The Missouri Arts Council Cultural Trust Fund has kept arts programs alive in Missouri and Kansas City. In the past year alone, the Missouri Arts Council has partnered with 584 arts agencies in 120 Missouri communities and provided arts programs and services to 8.1 million people. Now, as we approach this upcoming year and election season, your support of the arts will be crucial. In 2013, Missouri Citizens for the Arts (MCA) will be asking all arts advocates to encourage their elected officials and the Governor to appropriate the FULL 60% of the non-resident professional athlete and entertainer's income tax ($18 million). We're not asking for new funding for the arts but only that the our elected officials abide by the letter of the law. Join me on Thursday, September 27th along with Sarah Skaggs, Executive Director, Missouri Citizens for the Arts, to learn more about what you can do. It is only when our voices combine that we have real power to make change happen. Thanks and I hope to see you there. Sincerely, Harlan Brownlee President & CEO ____________________________________________________________________________________________ |
