Alcott Arts Center*
Creative Writing Workshop "Feel It in Your Toes": May 21: 6:30 pm Mon
Based on the assumption that the core, the root, the central jukebox of creativity resides in one's toes, this workshop is designed to draw out characters, settings, and images through relaxing and entertaining exercises, such as guided meditations and self-administered foot rubs. A fun opportunity for writers of all experience levels to relieve writer's block and generate new material. Please bring writing instruments, a yoga mat (if you have one), and removable footwear.
Instructor: Zachary Weaver is a winner of the 2010 and 2011 Young Playwrights Inc. National Playwriting Competitions. His plays have been produced by Trap Door Theatre in the KC Fringe Festival for the last five years. At the Alcott, his comedic melodrama, The Old Folks Make a Scene, was produced in the fall of 2010. Weaver is also a graduated member of The Coterie's Young Playwrights' Roundtable, where his plays were presented in the 2009 and 2010 Young Playwrights' Festivals. "With inherently universal themes and well-written plays, this young playwright ... has the intelligence of Edward Albee and the writing skills of a theatre writer many years his senior." --Damian Torres-Botello, KCMETROPOLIS.org
