THE ADDAMS FAMILY
February 27 – March 15
Music & Lyrics by Andrew Lippa RATED PG
Lyrics & Book by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice Industry Night: March 9th
Based on the characters created by Charles Addams
THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story, and it's every father's nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family - a man her parents have never met. And if that weren't upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's 'normal' boyfriend and his parents. Nominated for two Tony Awards during the 2011 – 2012 Broadway season.

SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION May 31 – June 14
By John Guare RATED R
Industry Night: June 8th
Inspired by a true story, the play follows the trail of a young black con man, Paul, who insinuates himself into the lives of a wealthy New York couple, Ouisa and Flan Kittredge, claiming he knows their son at college. Paul tells them he is the son of actor Sidney Poitier, and that he has just been mugged and all his money is gone. Captivated by Paul's intelligence and his fascinating conversation (and the possibility of appearing in a new Sidney Poitier movie), the Kittredges invite him to stay. Winner of the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Play in 1991.

EQUUS July 31 – August 15
By Peter Shaffer RATED R
Industry Night: August 10th
Dr. Martin Dysart, a psychiatrist, is confronted with Alan Strang, a boy who has blinded six horses in a violent fit of passion. This very passion is as foreign to Dysart as the act itself. To the boy's parents it is a hideous mystery; Alan has always adored horses. To Dysart it is a psychological puzzle that leads both doctor and patient to a complex and disturbingly dramatic confrontation. This international success reached new acclaim in London and on Broadway when revived in 2008. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Play, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding New Foreign Play and the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best in 1975.

THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE September 18 – October 4
New Music by Jeanine Tesori RATED PG
New Lyrics by Dick Scanlan Industry Night: September 28th
Book by Dick Scanlan & Richard Henry Morris
Original Story and Screenplay by Richard Morris for the Universal Pictures Film
Additional songs by James Van Heusen & Sammy Cahn / Jay Thompson / Sir Arthur Sullivan and W. S. Gilbert / Victor Herbert & Rida Johnson Young / Walter Donaldson, Sam Lewis & Joe Young
THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE is a high-spirited, zany new 1920's musical that took Broadway by storm, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical in the 2001 – 2002 season. Taking place in New York City in 1922, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever. Based on the popular 1967 movie.

THE PRODUCERS November 6 - 22
Music & Lyrics by Mel Brooks RATED R
Book by Thomas Meehan Industry Night: November 16th
Based on the 1968 Film
A down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history thereby bilking their backers (all "little old ladies") out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously offensive "Springtime For Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends. Winner of a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, during the 2000 – 2001 Broadway season.

Can you burp the alphabet, sing opera, play the kazoo, decorate a cake, solve a rubics cube, fold a paper crane,
dance ballet on point, stand on one hand, or make fart sounds in your arm pit?
Any skill can be a vehicle for narrative.

This master class in physical theatre, lead by former Cirque du Soleil performer Jaron Hollander
and Emmy Award winner Slater Penney, explores how tricks and narrative can be combined
to create truly virtuosic performances.

At the Just Off Broadway Theater,

Jaron Hollander, International Circus Artist and native to the east bay, has many titles including Clown, Acrobat,
Aerialist, Actor, Director, Coach, Master Teacher and Artistic Director. Jaron has been performing professionally for
32 years, a fact that is even more impressive considering he is only 40 years old. He has spent the interim time
performing around the world with many companies including Cirque Du Soleil, Make*A*Circus and Flynn Creek
Circus. He has made quite a mark in Northern California's performing arts scene as a Co-founder of both Berkeley's
Impact Theatre and Mendocino's Flynn Creek Circus. Jaron is known as an accomplished teacher having taught
theatre and circus arts all over the bay area at well known schools including the Clown Conservatory, Cal Shakes and
Berkeley Repertory's Theatre School, Sacramento Theatre Company and Splash Circus just to name a few.

For Slater Penney, variety is the spice of life. He is a national and international award winning performing artist,
choreographer and instructor, his biggest award being an Emmy in 2001 for work as a motion capture specialist with
Tech TV. He graduated from UC Santa Cruz in the Theatre Arts, studied circus in San Francisco and Oakland, and
furthered his professional training at the Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre. Slater has performed and
toured with Gamelan X, Make*A*Circus, Lunatique Fantastique, and The Crucible's Fire Operas. He has two devised
works of physical theatre: "Le Projet Migration," with his wife Christine Germain, and "The Submarine Show," with
Jaron Hollander. He's excelled as a teacher, including the San Francisco Circus Center, Marin Theatre Company, the
Berkeley Rep school of Theatre, and the Kinetic Arts Center in his credits. He is now Preschool Director at Luna
Gymnastics, offers classes and private lessons at the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre, and performs as often as is
possible.

The Water is Rising!

Kansas City, Mo. (June 18, 2014) … and the train is trying to get through the flood! The Mystery Train continues its Tenth Season with another interactive whodunit, this time with a SteamPunk flair! "Legally Dead" opens June 27 and runs through Aug 16th, with performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings in your favorite restaurants. Starring (l to r) Tyler Miller, Nikki Susco-Taylor and Heather Elaine Rafferty as the shady characters in search of a killer.

"Legally Dead"—A would-be lawyer (in petticoats no less), a flood and a murder on the train makes for a SteamPunk adventure in 1903! Looks like a job for James East!
Murder mystery dinner theater is presented as a live interactive game, but not all dinner companions are who they seem: one of them may be an accomplice to murder—or even the murderer himself! Better put your goggles on.

The evening begins with seating and role-playing at 6:30 pm. Performances are at The Golden Ox, in downtown Kansas City and at Californos Westport. See our website for a complete schedule. Tickets are $59 each on Thursdays, $69 each on Fridays and Saturdays. Those prices include dinner, show, and gratuity. First Fridays are still $10 off, too. A cash bar is available. Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling (816) 813-9654. Or, order through the Central Ticket Office at 816-235-6222, or online at www.kcmysterytrain.com.

Of Mice and Men

Few stories accurately portray the powerful
emotional impact of The Great Depression more than
the classic Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
Journeyman Theatre Company is proud to be
producing this iconic piece of American literature
at the Just Off Broadway Theatre to provoke and
entice conversations centered around these richly
developed characters and the similarities of our
current "Great Recession" versus the hardened
lessons of history. Journeyman invites the
audience to come see the show opening June 12.

Two drifters, George (played by Lucas T. McVey)
and his friend Lennie (Kevin Bickwermert), with
delusions of living off the "fat of the land,"
have just arrived at a ranch to work for enough
money to buy their own place. Lennie is a man-
child, a little boy in the body of a dangerously
powerful man. It is Lennie's obsession with things
soft and cuddly that have made George cautious
about who the gentle giant, with his brute
strength, associates with. His promise to allow
Lennie to "tend to the rabbits" on their future
land keeps Lennie calm, amidst distractions, as
the overgrown child needs constant reassurance.
But when a ranch boss' promiscuous wife is found
dead in the barn with a broken neck, it's obvious
that Lennie, albeit accidentally, killed her.
George, now worried about his own safety, knows
exactly where Lennie has gone to hide, and he
meets him there. Realizing they can't run away
anymore, George is faced with a moral question:
how should he deal with Lennie before the ranchers
find him and take matters into their own hands.

The Founding Artistic Director of Journeyman
Theatre Company, Gregory Chafin, has taken the
reins as director for Of Mice and Men pulling
together a strong cast. Alongside McVey and
Bickwermert, Kenna Hall plays Curley's Wife as the
sole female character in the production.
Accompanying the cast is Curley (Mike Ducey),
Candy (Rick Holzman), Slim (Jon Engle),
Carlson/Boss (Michael Foster), Whit (John Van
Winkle) and Crooks ( )

Don't miss this literary classic in motion with
its rare Kansas City performance! Steinbeck's
classic Of Mice and Men runs June 12th through the
14th at 7:30 pm and 15th at 2:30pm and the 19th
through 21st at 7:30 pm and Sunday the 22nd at

PARKVILLE, MO - BILL W. AND DR. BOB by Stephen Bergman and Janet Surrey is the first production of the Bell Road Barn Players 60th season in conjunction with Park University. It is also the premiere production of the play in the Kansas City area.

The Kansas City recovery community support for the show has been overwhelming.

Elektra

Murder! Exile! Sexual Frustration! Daddy Fixation!
Mommy Dearest! And Revenge!
Gorilla Theatre Productions Presents Euripides
"Elektra." On 28th and 29th June, at 7:30 AM,
Kansas City's own Gorilla Theatre will present
their production of Euripides' tragedy, "Elektra,"

tells the story of the return of Agamemnon's son,
Orestes, to Argos to avenge the murder of his
father, following his triumphant return from Troy.
In Euripides' hands, this becomes a family drama
of lives ruined by violence. At the center of the
drama is Agamemnon's daughter, Elektra, embittered
and angry at the privileged life torn from her by
her mother, Klytemnestra, and the mother's lover,
Aegisthus. Elektra will stop at nothing to get
her revenge.

The show begins at 7:30 A.M.on The Nelson-Atkins
Museum of Art SOUTH STAIRS Donald J. Hall
Sculpture Park, but come early to get
a good seat by Rodin's "Thinker." Bring a lawn
chair on which to sit, as the grass is quite dewy
