For Immediate Release
The Black Hills Playhouse will be holding auditions at Kansas City Kansas Community College on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. in room 3511/12 of the KCKCC Performing Arts Center. The Center is located at 7250 State Avenue in Kansas City, KS 66112
The Black Hills Playhouse seeks non-Equity performers. We will be hiring experienced, professional actors as well as interns. Acting Interns are undergraduate or first and second year participants in our program who play roles and/or ensemble alongside professional actors. Outside of acting, all interns are expected to participate in tech, camp maintenance, customer service and administrative duties on a rotating basis resulting in a well-rounded educational theatre experience. More experienced actors also participate in tech and camp maintenance duty rosters as we are a self-sustaining community located in the middle of a forest.
In preparation for your audition, upon your arrival, please provide us with:
One headshot
Resume
Sheet music (16 bars) for the accompanist (where applicable)
Please have prepared two contrasting monologues (one of the monologues should demonstrate skill in comedy) and 16 bars of a song (if you sing).
Please note that an accompanist may not be provided at all venues (see notes regarding venues below). In person, auditions should be no longer than 3 minutes in total length, although you may be asked to perform your selections more than once. We will make casting decisions in early to mid-March.
Our Season includes: Sylvia, The Secret Garden, Spamalot and The Best Man.
Local contact is Dr. Charles Leader at cleader@kckcc.edu or 913-461-3590.
