"A Modern Night at the Folly"
A Choreographers' Showcase
Please join City in Motion Dance Theater on Saturday, February 6th for our 13th annual presentation of "A Modern Night at Folly". As always this showcase will be held at the Historic Folly Theater, located at 300 W. 12th St, in Downtown Kansas City. Being Kansas City's only adjudicated choreographers' showcase, this one-of-a-kind event will feature ten of the region's most talented choreographers as well as celebrate modern dance in Kansas City.
The choreographers being showcased this year are Sabrina Madison-Cannon, Allison McKinzie, Jennifer Medina, Elaine Kimble-Peaks, Susan Douglas Roberts, Kameron N. Saunders, Andrea Schermoly, Andrea Skowronek, Patrick Suzeau and M. Suzanne Ryan Strati. Each choreographer has set their work on seasoned dance professionals from all over the region. Company members from City in Motion Dance Theater, Common Thread Dance (St. Louis), Kacico Dance, Quixotic, Wild Goose Chase Dance (Texas/Maine) as well pre-professional dancers from KU's Department of Dance and UMKC's Conservatory of Music and Dance will grace the stage making "A Modern Night at the Folly" a unique opportunity to see some of Kansas City's best dance professionals all on one stage.
Currently in its 30th anniversary year, City in Motion Dance Theater has provided opportunities for local choreographers to present their work(s) through the Choreographers' Showcase, the New Dance Series and Dance in the Park.

Tickets for "A Modern Night at the Folly" can be reserved by calling the Folly box office at 816.474.4444 or online at Follytheater.org. Tickets are $20 in advance, $15 for students and seniors and $25 at the door.

Since 1985, City in Motion Dance Theater has worked to promote modern dance in Kansas City. Its mission is to foster the development of high-quality contemporary dance programming and expand the dance audience in the Kansas City metropolitan region.
This 501c(3) nonprofit organization has utilized a three-pronged approach—a professional dance company; a dance school offering affordable classes for children, youth and adults; and contemporary dance programming and presentations—to achieve awareness and appreciation for modern dance.
The organization is perhaps best known for its high-quality annual dance concerts at the Gem Theater, Folly Theater, Roanoke Park, H & R Block City Stage Theater at Union Station and other locations throughout the metropolitan area.
