Kansas City, Missouri, August 12th 2013 – On June 24th PerformOUTKC announced Ryan C. Hays as new artistic director. This release is to serve as a revision.

Mr. Ryan Hays, a native of Curry, Alabama. Mr. Hays was to assume the positions of artistic director for PerformOUTKC, Kansas City's Choral Theater program for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer, Straight Allies and at-risk youth in July 2013. Due to personal circumstances Mr. Hays isn't able to make the transition to Kansas City.

And so, on behalf of the young artists, staff and board of directors, we wish to inform our supporters that it is with much excitement to announce Dr. Cynthia C Sheppard of Overland Park, KS as Guest Artistic Director of PerformOUTKC. Dr. Sheppard will be joining forces with Chad Patrick Smith, Artistic Director of Theater Arts to work towards the growth and development of our young organization.

Dr. Cynthia Sheppard has been Director of Choirs at Olathe South since 2001, where she also serves as Chair of the Performing Arts Department. In addition to her work with the choral program, she teaches AP Music Theory. Dr. Sheppard also contributes her time serving multiple high-level choral organizations and associations, to include; State Vocal Chair from 2007-2009 with the Kansas Music Educators Association, with responsibilities for the statewide festival honor choir. On a collegiate level Dr. Sheppard taught as an adjunct instructor in music education at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.

Cynthia and Chad are very excited to kick off the 5th season of POKC with the new choral theater program. This programming concept will consist of original works from the personal stories and journeys of the young artists of POKC converted into music and theater. This will showcase the authenticity of young peoples' developing sense of musical excellence and creative expression. We Explore, Discover, Celebrate, Share!
