City in Motion presents "Under the Surface" May 10-12
City in Motion Dance Theater will present "Under the Surface," its annual professional company concert, at 8 p.m. May 10 and 11
and 2 p.m. May 12 at the H & R Block City Stage Theater at Union Station, 30 West Pershing Road.
The concert will feature new work by artistic co-directors Dale Fellin, Stephanie Whittler and Andrea Skowronek.
Guest choreographer R. Vance Baldwin of Modern American Dance Company (MADCO) in St. Louis will premiere a lively piece called "Monkeys Amok."
"Under the Surface" refers to the subtext inherent in the new dance works premiering in this performance.
Many of the dances are autobiographical in nature, inspired by real life joys and travails.
Kathleen Kingsley, one of the founding members of City in Motion Dance Theater, will be a guest choreographer and performer. Company members Stephen Plante, Ann Shaughnessy and Amanda January will also present new work.
Tickets are $18 in advance, $15 for students, seniors, and Union Station members, $10 for children 12 and under, and $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available through the Union Station box office at 816-460-2020 or www.unionstation.org/theater.html.
