Who are Book of Gaia? They are a trio of exceptional and accomplished women performing together. The members are Angela Hagenbach, Pamela Baskin-Watson, and Nedra Dixon. Angela was twice chosen as United States Cultural Jazz Ambassador, completing two World Tours in that capacity. She authored the celebrated, 'JazzAlice: An Adventure in Wonderland', the 2015 musical production based on the Lewis Carroll classic set to the music of John Coltrane. She was the first runner-up in the 2015 Sarah Vaugh International Jazz Vocal competition in November.
Pamela taught at the renowned Harlem School of the Arts, where she founded and directed the Vocal Jazz program. As a composer-arranger, she has works recorded by such notable jazz musicians as Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, vocalists Betty Carter and Kevin Mahogany, saxophonist Bobby Watson, trumpeter Roy Hargrove, and pianist James Williams.
Nedra comes from a theater background. She has received critical acclaim in venues from Broadway and Off-Broadway to the concert stages of Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden in New York. She performed at the White House twice, and also at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Most recently she was featured in popular rapper Tech N9ne's music video, Fear, and is the "Featured Vocalist" on Kansas City's NPR-affiliated jazz show, 12th Street Jump.
I hope to see you at the show!
Regards,
Steve Tennant
