River City Community Players announce an open call for auditions for Bye, Bye, Birdie; June 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and callbacks June 10 at 7:30 p.m.
Book by Michael Stewart; music by Charles Strouse; lyrics by Lee Adams; originally produced by Edward Padula.
Conrad Birdie is about to be inducted into the Army. He has a pompadour, thick sideburns, gaudy costumes and a rugged voice. Rosie keeps the agent and Conrad moving forward.
She has one final publicity plan before the induction. A teen-age girl will receive a goodbye kiss.
A 15-year-old wins the honor and the phones in her town are busy as Kim has just been pinned. Bye, Bye Birdie is a satire that gives insight into the everyday life that is very much part of us all.
Directed by Tisha Swart-Entwistle.
Please prepare 32 bars of a Broadway style selection in your vocal range not from Bye, Bye Birdie.
An accompanist and a CD/MP3 player will be available (PLEASE do not sing with a track that has vocals, use a 'backing track').
If you are singing from sheet music please have it memorized or provide a separate copy for the accompanist.
