Auditions:
November 2, 12pm - 4pm
November 3, 5pm - 9pm
At St. Pius School, 55th and Woodson, Mission, KS
All auditioning must be checked in by one hour after the auditions begin
EXPECTATION and PREPARATION:
Auditions will be an open call both days.
32 bars of a rock style song – Can be from the music industry or music theatre. No songs from the show. Please provide sheet music...no CDs & NO ACAPPELLA auditions.
Eyeliner welcome.
Resume and headshot, if available.
A change of clothes – Both open calls will have a dance audition.
*Non-singer dancers are encouraged to audition. Come to open call with 30 second prepared dance.
Invited Callbacks
November 9, 12pm - 4pm
Those called back will receive a music packet by email Monday, November 4, by noon. Callbacks will consist of readings from the script and selected music performances. DANCERS called back will have a combination to learn as well as two freestyle 8 counts.
Rehearsals and Performances:
Rehearsals will be January 21 - February 27
Performances: February 28 - March 16, Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, Sunday at 2:00pm, plus Monday, March 10 at 7:30pm
Available Roles:
All ages are encouraged and age should not hinder someone from auditioning for any role.
FEMALE SOLOIST and MALE SOLOIST may be cast as individuals, or the roles may be split up between ensemble members.
All roles, excluding Andrew and Rachel Jackson, could possibly be either gender.
ANDREW JACKSON | Male, 22-32, Tenor Bb2 - Bb4. A roguish, man's president who is deeply charming and sexy, yet is also an extremely violent, arrogant, bigoted idiot that fights for what he believes in. Must be comfortable shirtless. Must be comfortable getting "bloody"...it's the name of the show.
BLACK FOX | Male, 25-35, Speaking Role. Native American chief who is intelligent and somber with a hint of danger. He used to have an alliance with Jackson.
ENSEMBLE | VARIOUS FRONTIERSMEN, INDIANS, SOLDIERS.
FEMALE SOLOIST | Female, 20-30, Mezzo G3 - B4. Self-confident, attractive singer with powerful, emotive indie rock voice. Dark, mysterious, hip vibe. Can double as other roles.
HENRY CLAY | Male, 28-36, Baritone D3 - A3. An over-the-top, vivacious, tall, cadaverous, and villainous senator with greasy hair who wears weasel pelts. Can double as other roles.
JAMES MONROE | Male, 30-40, Speaking Role. Foppish and overwhelmed old-school President of the United States. Can double as other roles.
JOHN C. CALHOUN | Male, 25-35, Bass B2-F3. A sinister, good-looking, charming, and brilliant gentleman senator from the South who is a vain mastermind. Can double as other roles.
JOHN QUINCY ADAMS | Male, 22-32, Bass B2-E4. The former President's whiney, spoiled, and demanding son who really wants to be President. Can double as other roles.
LYNCOYA | Male 5-8, Speaking Role. Adopted Native American son of Andrew Jackson who has a sweet dispostion with a wild streak.
MALE SOLOIST | Male, 18-25, Tenor/Baritone D3-E4. Brooding, intense rocker with powerful, emotive indie rock voice. He is angsty, good-looking, young, and hip. Can double as other roles.
MARTIN VAN BUREN | Male, 25-35, Speaking Role. Jackson's right hand man who is in over his head. He is a well-intentioned buffoon who is utterly lovable. Can double as other roles.
RACHEL JACKSON | Female, 25-35, Mezzo A3-B4. Jackson's deeply religious and devoted wife who is strangely alluring, yet not overtly sexual. Can double as other roles.
THE STORYTELLER | Female, 35-55, Speaking Role. A milquetoast, oppressively good-natured, history-loving narrator that has not had much excitement in her life. Very strong comedic actor.
DANCERS | 3-4 strong dancers. Andrew Jackson's backup girls. Will also be in the ensemble.
