Join us at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, as City in Motion Dance Theater celebrates the 10th anniversary presentation of "A Modern Night at the Folly!"

This performance features 10 of the area's most talented choreographers. This eagerly awaited one-of-a-kind event is Kansas City's only adjudicated showcase. It provides the audience with insight into the direction of our region's modern dance artists.

This year's performance will feature the choreography of Willie Lenoir, Erin Lustig, James Moreno, Jennifer Owen, Cathy Patterson, Lucy Shopen, Andrea Skowronek, Patrick Suzeau, Halley Willcox, and Ming Xia. Choreographer Andrea Skowronek, Co-artistic Director and original company member of City in Motion, will be available for interviews.

Tickets for "A Modern Night at the Folly" can be reserved by calling the Folly Box Office at 816.474.4444 or by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000. Tickets are $18 in advance, $15 for students and seniors and $20 at the door. Tickets subject to convenience charge. Call the Folly Box Office for details. For more than 25 years, City in Motion has provided opportunities for local choreographers to present their work through the Choreographers' Showcase, the New Dance Series and Dance in the Park. "A Modern Night at the Folly" is a continuation of that tradition.

This event is partially funded by the Missouri Arts Council, the Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund, the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City, United Missouri Bank and a grant from the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation.

Since 1985, City in Motion Dance Theatre has worked to promote modern dance in Kansas City. Its mission is to foster the development of high-quality contemporary dance programming and expand the dance audience in the Kansas City metropolitan region.

This 501c(3) nonprofit organization has utilized a three-pronged approach—a professional dance company; a dance school offering affordable classes for children, youth and adults; and contemporary dance programming and presentations—to achieve awareness and appreciation for modern dance. The organization is perhaps best known for its high-quality annual dance concerts at the Gem Theater, Folly Theater, Roanoke Park and other locations throughout the metropolitan area.
