The River City Community Players announce there will be an Open-Call for Auditions for
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by Music and Lyrics by William Finn, Book by Rachel Sheinkin.
Directed by MB Hurst.
Auditions will be held Jan 2-4 beginning at 7 p.m. Wed-Fri.
If one of your 2013 resolutions is to be part of a musical production; this is your first chance to accomplish that resolution.
Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.
The show is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime and creates the unlikeliest of heroes for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.
Please prepare 32 bars of a Broadway style selection (nothing from Spelling Bee). An accompanist and CD player will be provided. NO ACCAPELLA singing, tapes, or USB plug-ins.
Bring a resume and a complete list of conflicts from January 8-March 9. A current headshot is welcome, but not required.
