CATHY RIGBY TAKES FLIGHT IN PETER PAN AT STARLIGHT THEATRE JULY 24-29
This Broadway classic is complete with pirates, mermaids, crocodiles, fairies – and best of all, flying!
Cathy Rigby takes flight in an all new production of Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan July 24-29 at Starlight Theatre in Swope Park. The show about the boy who wouldn't grow up has been sprinkled with some extra fairy dust and is more awe-inspiring than ever.
"Peter Pan is one of my favorite shows," said Denton Yockey, president and executive producer of Starlight Theatre. "It's a great story that has everything: pirates, Indians, mermaids, crocodiles, fairies – and best of all, flying. Plus, this show has Cathy Rigby. She is amazing! Audiences will get to see her fly over the Starlight stage performing more aerial choreography than ever before.
"For many Kansas Citians and especially for Starlight patrons, Peter Pan was the first Broadway show they ever saw. It's so fun to see parents and grandparents continuing the tradition of introducing the next generation to musical theater with this show," he said.
Since 1990, Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby has made four stops on Broadway, garnering the show four Tony® Nominations including Best Revival of a Musical and for Cathy, Best Actress in a Musical and two Emmy Awards.
Broadway's Brent Barrett (who last appeared at Starlight in Chicago) and Kim Crosby (Cinderella in the original Into the Woods) will play Mr. Darling/Captain Hook and Mrs. Darling. PETER PAN is produced by McCoy Rigby Entertainment, Nederlander Presentations, Albert Nocciolino in association with Larry Earl Payton, Michael Filerman, Heni Koenigsberg and La Mirada Theatre For The Performing Arts. Direction by Glenn Casale who directed the 1999 Tony® Award nominated and Emmy winning PETER PAN starring Cathy Rigby. Casale work has been featured at the California Musical Theatre for almost 23 seasons where he has directed more than 550 shows and is currently its artistic director.
The flying sequence choreographer is Paul Rubin, "The Fly Guy" who has choreographed some of the most memorable flying sequences from the Tony® Award winning Broadway production of Wicked to Cathy Rigby's Emmy Award winning DVD of PETER PAN. The creative team includes Patti Columbo (Choreographer), Keith Levenson (Musical Director), Michael Gilliam (Lighting Design), Julie Ferrin (Sound Design), Sean Boyd (Fight Director) and Julia Flores (Casting Director).
Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan is produced by McCoy Rigby Entertainment (MRE). Tom McCoy and Cathy Rigby are beginning their seventeenth season as executive producers of the McCoy Rigby Entertainment Series at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Since the 1994, McCoy Rigby has produced more 75 plays, musicals, concerts, dramas, and comedies. MRE has also produced several Broadway productions and National Tours including PETER PAN and Seussical the Musical both starring Cathy Rigby, Jesus Christ Superstar, Camelot, and Happy Days, The Musical.

All performances begin at 8 p.m. The production is presented by Beauty Brands. Guests are encouraged to arrive early (gates open at 6 p.m.) for several free pre-show activities including Peter Pan's Treasure Hunt. Lost Boys and Pixie Girls can walk the plank, talk with pirates and even get sprinkled with pixie dust by Tinker Bell! This pre-show celebration has become an annual popular Starlight tradition.
Dining options before the show include sandwiches and salads at the Encore Deck, concessions and "Fly Away to Family Fare" catered by the Hereford House that includes roast turkey breast, sliced beef, delicious

Presenting Broadway entertainment since 1951, the non-profit Starlight Theatre Association is Kansas City's oldest and largest performing arts organization.
