Next To Normal CAST
Daniel Beeman is a Nebraska-born 19 year-old who
just loves to be on stage. He has been performing
through several outlets such as ballet, jazz, tap,
musical theatre, show choir, and other choral
programs for over 10 years. He is also an
accomplished competitive Irish dancer, having
recently competed at the World Championships in
Ireland. He has had the privilege to perform solo
and with professional acts on stages in Belfast,
Omaha, Branson, Nashville, Chicago, Kansas City,
and Orlando. Musical theatre credits include Timon
in The Lion King, Linus in The Music Man, Link
Larkin in scenes from Hairspray, and starring as
Alex in his high school's originial musical
production, Turning Green. Daniel is also the Duke
of the Show Me Pride Youth Royalty Court and has
been performing in the weekly "MJ Knight's Dinner
is a Drag Show" at Hamburger Mary's Kansas City.
He plans to continue performing and thanks his
family and friends for theirundying support
through everything he does!
Graham Fairleigh is making his She&Her debut. Some
of Graham's favorite roles on the KC stage
include; Barrett in Titanic, Cinderella's Prince
in Into The Woods, Man 2 in Songs for a New World,
The Boss in Side Show and Cladwell in Urinetown.
Graham has also performed as a Cabaret artist and
a concert soloist in various venues around the
Kansas City area.
Robert Hingula is ecstatic to be a part of Next to
Normal and his first show with She & Her
Productions. Robert has appeared in numerous other
performances in the KC-Metro area including Tommy
(Tommy), [title of show](Hunter), The Wedding
Singer (Robbie Hart), Rent (Roger), Aida (Zoser),
Grease (Kenickie), Oklahoma!(Curley), and
Footloose (Chuck Cranston). This summer Robert
will be appearing in Sweeney Todd (Sweeney) and
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown! (Snoopy) at
Shawnee Mission Theatre in the Park. When not on
stage, Robert spends his days practicing
employment law at Polsinelli Shughart PC. He
attributes all his success to his super-hot wife,
Melissa (whose continued support allows him to
come out and play) and his beautiful daughter,
Darcie (whose own talent and awesomeness inspires
him – and keeps him laughing – daily).
Matthew King is very excited to work with 'She &
Her Productions' and to be apart of the Kansas
City premiere of 'Next to Normal'. Although he is
from Kansas City, he has most recently stepped
onto the theatre scene after returning from the
Roosevelt Conservatory for Musical Theatre and
hopes to continue strive within this wonderful
market even further. His most recent projects in
the city have been Collins in 'Rent' at the Barn
Players, Horton in 'Seussical' at Theatre in the
Park and the Coterie Theatre's 'Once Upon a
Mattress'. He is excited to to share the story of
such a brave musical to Kansas City community!
Kristin Leathers is the Owner/Chef of Alter Ego
Catering and Cakes (www.alteregofood.com/), has
her Doctorate and Masters in Clinical Psychology,
has her Bachelors in Radio/TV/Film, and oh, right,
is a Singer/Actor around KC. One might say her
career has been a bit Bipolar thus prepping her
for Diana (a role that jumped to the top of her
dream list the second she heard the cast album).
Kristin has been seen on stage around town at MET,
The Chestnut, OCTA, The Barn Players, Theatre in
the Park, MTH, and The White Theatre. Favorite
roles include: Woman 2 (SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD),
Trix (THE DROWSY CHAPERONE), Rhoda (A NEW BRAIN),
Dorothy Brock (42ND STREET), Daisy Hilton (SIDE
SHOW), and Gabby/Bobbi (CITY OF ANGELS). Having
started the year with ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S
NEST at MET and ending it with NEXT TO NORMAL, it
would seem Kristin is spending 2012 finding some
unexpected synchronicity between her stage work
and her psych doctorate. Which is cool. And doing
this role with Graham as her doctor is about as
perfect as anything could be. Her husband
(Maneesh) and her children (Holden and Tierney)
are a remarkable gift in her life, and she
dedicates her performance as Diana to them more
than any other performance she has ever done.
Hugs, therapy, meds, Bipolar cycling, and
stability to all three of you: I love you all even
more than this part. : )
Deanna Mazdra is thrilled to be a part of Next to
Normal as her first show with She and Her! She
graduated from the University of Central Missouri
where she played such roles as Little Red in Into
the Woods, Connie in A Chorus Line, Milady inThe
Three Musketeers and various roles with the
Central Missouri Repertory company. She was last
seen inReckless as Rachel with Relevance
Productions. Deanna also works as a peer educator
with the Coterie Theatre in their Dramatic Aids
Education project. She is so excited for this show
and for the chance to work with such wonderful
people!

SYNOPSIS:
It's the brassy, brights and promising year of 1959. Boston's Colonial Theatre is host ot the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady dies mysteriously on stage, the entire cast & crew are suspects. Curtains is parody of 1950s "whodunnit" theater mysteries, where a lone detective (who just happens to love musical theatre), Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, investigates a series of murders that take place behind the scenes of a fictional 1950s cowboy musical, Robbin' Hood. The cast of Robbin' Hood is forced to stay inside the theater while Boston police detective Frank Cioffi unravels the mystery, getting involved with the show and falling in love with ingenue, Niki Harris in the process. A Kansas City Community Theatre Premiere.

Outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic, 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL is about teaming up and taking care of business... it's about getting credit and getting even.

VIOLET – 40s to early 50s. Attractive, strong, ambitious woman. Stands up for what she believes in. Head secretary and Mr. Hart's administrative assistant. She is also a single mother of a teenager. (Lily Tomlin in film)

Godspell at Paseo Academy

Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts presents the musical Godspell, November 15th – 17th at 7:00 p.m.
Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak. It opened off Broadway on May 17, 1971, and has played in various touring companies and revivals, including a 2011 revival which played on Broadway from October 13, 2011 to June 24, 2012. Several cast albums have been released over the years with one popular song being, "Day by Day" from the original cast album. "Day by Day" reached #13 on the Billboard pop singles chart in the summer of 1972.
The structure of the musical is that of a series of parables, based on the Gospel of Matthew (with three of the parables featured are recorded only in the Gospel of Luke). The parables are interspersed with a variety of modern music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns, with the passion of Christ treated briefly near the end of the performance.

Nellie McKay, Cady Huffman, Sean McDermott at Inge Center Play Reading
One of America's most versatile singers, a Tony-winning performer and a Broadway leading man are among the talented performers gathered in Independence, Kansas, to appear in readings of new plays.
Nellie McKay, Cady Huffman, and Sean McDermott and additional guest artists contribute their talents to the public reading of a new play and musical at the William Inge Center for the Arts at Independence Community College. The readings are at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sat. Nov. 3 at the William Inge Theatre, Independence, Kansas.
The plays are a saucy and sexy musical comedy, "My Base and Scurvy Heart," by Inge House Playwright in Residence Adam Szymkowicz, with music by Dan Schreier and Matt Sherwin, lyrics. The second production is a drama, "The Benders," by Inge House resident Anne Phelan.
"The Benders" is directed by New York-based director Tamara Fisch. "My Dark and Scurvy Heart" is directed by Inge Center Artistic Director, Peter Ellenstein, and musical director is Max Mamon.
Admission is free to both readings. The public is invited to join the play development process, providing valuable feedback to the creators in post-show discussions with the creative teams and actors.
Cady Huffman returns to Independence, having performed in Sheldon Harnick's "A Doctor in Spite of Himself" at the 2011 WIlliam Inge Theater Festival. Her Broadway credits include: "The Producers" (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards), "The Will Rogers Follies' (Tony nomination), the original production of "La Cage Aux Folles," "Steel Pier," "Dame Edna: The Royal Tour" and Bob Fosse's last original musical "Big Deal."
Her television credits include, The Good Wife, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 10 seasons as a judge on Iron Chef America, Frasier, Law & Order: CI, Law & Order: Trial By Jury, Law & Order: SVU, Mad About You and One Life To Live. Her film work includes, The Company Men, The Nanny Diaries, Romance & Cigarettes, Hero and Dare.
Nellie McKay's music is tuneful and clever as the best of the Great American Songbook - part cabaret, part "sparkly pop." But beneath the charming melodic surface is a wit that cuts. Nellie's first album was produced by Geoff Emerick, the man who engineered The Beatles' albums from "Revolver" through "Abbey Road." McKay signed on as co-producer and together they recorded 18 songs, forming the double album "Get Away From Me."
As a composer, her music has been heard on "Weeds," "Grey's Anatomy," "NCIS," Privileged," "Nurse Jackie," and "Mad Men." On stage, she won she won a Theatre World Award for her Polly in the Broadway production of "The Threepenny Opera," also acting and singing in the film "PS I Love You" and writing and performing the song score for the Rob Reiner film "Rumor Has It." McKay has also appeared on numerous prime-time TV shows. Among her recordings is "Normal As Blueberry Pie: A Tribute to Doris Day;" music for the Grammy-winning "Boardwalk Empire" soundtrack album, and contributed two songs to the Emmy-winning documentary "Gasland." She is a recipient of The Humane Society's Doris Day Music Award in recognition of her dedication to animal rights.
Sean McDermott was one of four Broadway singers handpicked by Barbra Streisand to replace "Il Divo" and sing alongside her on her nine week European tour. His recent performances include Lieutenant Gregg in "Mae West's Sex," Shadow in "Back Bog Beast Bait," Bob in "Loose Knit," and his annual appearance as the emcee of the satirical "Ms. Center of the Universe Pageant." His own original plays include "Ferockta," "Just Some Good Ole' Boys," "Juicyland," and "Big Beef," and he is the creator of the long-running show Old Crow Confessions, where audience members take the stage and unburden themselves.
Hannah Joyce-Hoven is an actor, theatre arts consultant and yoga instructor. For nine years she worked for the William Inge Center for the Arts as Associate Director of Operations and Company Manager. Before that she worked in St. Louis with a number of theatre companies including the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. She is a trained teaching artist in the Aesthetic Education Method from the Lincoln Institute for the Arts in Education. She received her BA in Theatre from Wheaton College.
Max Mamon is a composer, pianist, and music director from Brooklyn, New York. His original musicals co-written with lyricist/bookwriter Jahn Sood include "With You Always" and "Vital Signs," which was recently produced off-broadway by the Riant Theater Company. As the co-founder and musical artistic director of Ensemble Dance, Max's work was featured in a showcase at Alvin Ailey Studios. His other work has been seen at the Sharon Playhouse, McConnell Theater at Simon's Rock, The Duplex Cabaret Theater, 13th Street Rep, CultureHub Studios, 3LD Art & Technology Center, McCarter Theater, and Richardson Auditorium at Princeton University. He is a graduate of NYU Tisch (Graduate Musical Theater Writing), Princeton University (Music Composition, Piano Performance), and the Royal College of Music, London (Piano Performance).
Lisa Paige is an Independence based director and actor. She is artistic director and co-founder of Independence Children's Summer Theatre, of which she is thrilled to see continue to grow and serve more youth. Lisa has also directed and performed at numerous Neewollah-festival productions in Independence as well as events at the Inge Center. Paige was awarded the William Inge Center for the Art's Margaret Goheen Award for outstanding contribution to theater in Independence at the 2005 Inge Festival.

However, Rick's awkward manner and inappropriate
behavior throw the occasion into shambles. It
turns out that Rick is a "nerd" who overstays his
welcome with a vengeance!

The hilarious dilemma of a young architect who is
visited by Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-GI whom he
has never met but who saved has life after he was
seriously wounded in Vietnam. Willum is delighted
when Rick shows up unexpectedly at his apartment
for Willum's birthday party.
However, Rick's awkward manner and inappropriate
behavior throw the occasion into shambles. It
turns out that Rick is a "nerd" who overstays his
welcome with a vengeance!
This show is suitable for all audiences
The Thurs. Nov. 1 performance tickets are
available on a walk-up basis only as it is a fund-
raiser for the Powerhouse Theatre and P.A.W.S. (
People for Animal Welfare Society.
