Jason Robert Brown at Olathe South this Saturday

Olathe South's cast of the musical 13 will be working with Tony Award winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, on Saturday November 3rd from 2-5pm in the Olathe South auditorium. This is an amazing opportunity to hear a current Broadway composer/lyricist talk about performing musical theatre.

Mr. Brown wrote the music and lyrics for 13 which was performed on Broadway in 2009. He has written 3 original musicals that have been produced on Broadway, including Parade in 1999 for which he won the Tony Award for Best Original Musical Score. The following is a link to a longer bio on his website: http://jasonrobertbrown.com/about/.

Next To Normal CAST

Daniel Beeman is a Nebraska-born 19 year-old who
just loves to be on stage. He has been performing
through several outlets such as ballet, jazz, tap,
musical theatre, show choir, and other choral
programs for over 10 years. He is also an
accomplished competitive Irish dancer, having
recently competed at the World Championships in
Ireland. He has had the privilege to perform solo
and with professional acts on stages in Belfast,
Omaha, Branson, Nashville, Chicago, Kansas City,
and Orlando. Musical theatre credits include Timon
in The Lion King, Linus in The Music Man, Link
Larkin in scenes from Hairspray, and starring as
Alex in his high school's originial musical
production, Turning Green. Daniel is also the Duke
of the Show Me Pride Youth Royalty Court and has
been performing in the weekly "MJ Knight's Dinner
is a Drag Show" at Hamburger Mary's Kansas City.
He plans to continue performing and thanks his
family and friends for theirundying support
through everything he does!

Graham Fairleigh is making his She&Her debut. Some
of Graham's favorite roles on the KC stage
include; Barrett in Titanic, Cinderella's Prince
in Into The Woods, Man 2 in Songs for a New World,
The Boss in Side Show and Cladwell in Urinetown.
Graham has also performed as a Cabaret artist and
a concert soloist in various venues around the
Kansas City area.

Robert Hingula is ecstatic to be a part of Next to
Normal and his first show with She & Her
Productions. Robert has appeared in numerous other
performances in the KC-Metro area including Tommy
(Tommy), [title of show](Hunter), The Wedding
Singer (Robbie Hart), Rent (Roger), Aida (Zoser),
Grease (Kenickie), Oklahoma!(Curley), and
Footloose (Chuck Cranston). This summer Robert
will be appearing in Sweeney Todd (Sweeney) and
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown! (Snoopy) at
Shawnee Mission Theatre in the Park. When not on
stage, Robert spends his days practicing
employment law at Polsinelli Shughart PC. He
attributes all his success to his super-hot wife,
Melissa (whose continued support allows him to
come out and play) and his beautiful daughter,
Darcie (whose own talent and awesomeness inspires
him – and keeps him laughing – daily).

Matthew King is very excited to work with 'She &
Her Productions' and to be apart of the Kansas
City premiere of 'Next to Normal'. Although he is
from Kansas City, he has most recently stepped
onto the theatre scene after returning from the
Roosevelt Conservatory for Musical Theatre and
hopes to continue strive within this wonderful
market even further. His most recent projects in
the city have been Collins in 'Rent' at the Barn
Players, Horton in 'Seussical' at Theatre in the
Park and the Coterie Theatre's 'Once Upon a
Mattress'. He is excited to to share the story of
such a brave musical to Kansas City community!

Kristin Leathers is the Owner/Chef of Alter Ego
Catering and Cakes (www.alteregofood.com/), has
her Doctorate and Masters in Clinical Psychology,
has her Bachelors in Radio/TV/Film, and oh, right,
is a Singer/Actor around KC. One might say her
career has been a bit Bipolar thus prepping her
for Diana (a role that jumped to the top of her
dream list the second she heard the cast album).
Kristin has been seen on stage around town at MET,
The Chestnut, OCTA, The Barn Players, Theatre in
the Park, MTH, and The White Theatre. Favorite
roles include: Woman 2 (SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD),
Trix (THE DROWSY CHAPERONE), Rhoda (A NEW BRAIN),
Dorothy Brock (42ND STREET), Daisy Hilton (SIDE
SHOW), and Gabby/Bobbi (CITY OF ANGELS). Having
started the year with ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S
NEST at MET and ending it with NEXT TO NORMAL, it
would seem Kristin is spending 2012 finding some
unexpected synchronicity between her stage work
and her psych doctorate. Which is cool. And doing
this role with Graham as her doctor is about as
perfect as anything could be. Her husband
(Maneesh) and her children (Holden and Tierney)
are a remarkable gift in her life, and she
dedicates her performance as Diana to them more
than any other performance she has ever done.
Hugs, therapy, meds, Bipolar cycling, and
stability to all three of you: I love you all even
more than this part. : )

Deanna Mazdra is thrilled to be a part of Next to
Normal as her first show with She and Her! She

A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody Second Weekend

The River City Community Players announces the second weekend for A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody by Ron Bernas. The show is an adult comedy which is NOT appropriate for children under the age of 13 without the consent/presence of a parent/guardian.

The show, directed by Jeff Adams, is about a wealthy middle aged man who, while enduring his mid-life crisis and in desperation, vows on New Year's Eve he will MURDER his incredibly beautiful, witty and sophisticated wife before the end of the coming year.

Enter his drop-dead knockout daughter, Bunny - who hasn't the collective brainpower of a box of rocks - and her fiance, Donald, an up and coming lawyer who has found the woman of his dreams and proposes to make her his wife.

Donald soon learns the Perry family has dark secrets and finds himself caught up in what he believes are terrible truths which have already resulted in deliberate and senseless murder. The bumbling Detective Plotnik and Donald attempt to solve the gruesome tale on their own but are daunted by........the seemingly sinister and underhanded butler, Buttram, who is obviously involved in several mysterious deaths - but to what degree?

Will Matthew Perry actually kill his wife, Julia?
Will Julia survive to see her daughter wed?
Will Donald and Detective Plotnik solve the mystery before the unthinkable?
Will Buttram get away with murder?
Will Bunny ever get....................anything?

Your only chance to see how this mystery is resolved is to come see the show!!!!!!!

Announcing Starlight's 2013 Broadway Season

Starlight Theatre's 2013 Broadway Season will include flying cows, '80s dance craze, the ultimate con man, a little mermaid, rebellious teens, forbidden love and show-stopping musical numbers.

"Our 63nd season offers classics and new musicals; great drama and hilarious comedy. I'm personally very excited about the titles and types of musicals that will be presented on the Starlight stage next summer, and I think Kansas City and visitors will be too," said Denton Yockey, Starlight President and Executive Producer. "The 2013 Broadway Season will be an ambitious one with four Starlight premieres, three of which are also Kansas City premieres, and two Starlight favorites.

"Each season, we survey our subscribers and friends about the shows they would like to see in the future, and we take those results to heart. Starlight audiences tell us they are as diverse as Kansas City and want a season that reflects their distinct tastes, so that is what they will find at Starlight next summer. Our line up offers a lot of variety," he said.

STARLIGHT THEATRE'S 2013 BROADWAY SEASON
SPAMALOT May 31-June 6, 2013
Monty Python's Spamalot is the outrageous musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." With music and lyrics by the Grammy-Award winning team of Eric Idle and John Du Prez, Spamalot tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Audiences can expect flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers ("Always Look on the Bright Side of Life," "Find Your Grail").

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN June 11 – June 16, 2013
A new musical from the team behind Hairspray! Based on the hit film and the incredible true story that inspired it, Catch Me If You Can is the high-flying, Broadway musical that tells the story of Frank W. Abagnale, Jr., who runs away from home in search of the glamorous life. With nothing more than his boyish charm, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged checks, Frank successfully poses as a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer - living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams. A big big-hearted musical adventure based on an astonishing real-life story of being young, in love…and in deep, deep trouble!

FLASHDANCE July 9 – July 14, 2013
Based on the movie that defined a generation, Flashdance – The Musical tells the unforgettable story of Alex, a working-class girl from Pittsburgh striving to make her dreams of becoming a professional dancer a reality. Featuring a score including the hit songs from the movie, including the Academy Award-winning title song "Flashdance – What a Feeling," "Maniac," "Gloria," "Manhunt," "I Love Rock & Roll." Direction and choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, Memphis, The Addams Family).

DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID July 23-28, 2013
In a magical kingdom beneath the sea, the beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. Based on one of Hans Christian Anderson's most beloved stories, it's a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. The score features the classic songs by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman: "Part of Your World," "Kiss the Girl," and the Academy Award-winning "Under the Sea."

FOOTLOOSE August 5-11, 2013
One of the most explosive movie musicals bursts onto the stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren isn't prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing. To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.

MISS SAIGON September 7-13, 2013
A classic love story is brought up-to-date in one of the most stunning theatrical spectacles of all time. In Miss Saigon, Puccini's Madame Butterfly is brought to the modern world. This powerful pop opera is an emotional tale about forbidden love, the tragedies of war and the sacrifices made to achieve the American Dream. Tony Award-winning musical Miss Saigon, created by the visionaries behind Les Miserables, features a touching love story told through a series of sensational musical numbers including "Why God Why?" and "The American Dream."
